How to solve the auto dark mode not working on macOS Catalina?
Step 1.Your Mac will not switch to the dark/light theme when you are using it. So you can try locking the screen and then unlock it to see if the theme changes.
Step 2. If it still doesn't work, it may be related to the Night Shift settings, as the automatic adjustment of the theme is usually based on the Nigh Shift settings on your Mac. So you should check if the Night Shift is enabled on your Mac. To do it, you should go to the Apple menu - System Preferences - Click 'Displays' - Click the 'Night Shift' tab. Then you can have Night Shift turn on automatically from sunset to sunrise, or you can also choose 'Custom' to set your own Night Shift schedule.
Step 3. If the above steps still cannot solve the problem, there may be something wrong with your macOS Catalina version. So please update your Mac to the latest macOS Catalina version.
Does these solutions help you? If not, it may also have something to do with the bugs of the new macOS Catalina, so you can wait for the macOS Catalina latest update to fix these bugs.
